Overview: This course enables delegates to gain the close protection training qualification and be eligible to apply for a Security Industry Authority (SIA) license in close protection. It is ideally suited for those already working as VIP chauffeurs, anti-piracy MSOs, PSD operators, personal safety consultants and privately contracted security officers.
Objectives: The course provides delegates with the necessary practical and theoretical skills to work in close protection.
Assessment Methods: Assessment is made by a variety of methods including a practical skills assessment and knowledge test.
Course Duration: 1 – 5 days, dependent on previous knowledge
Entry Requirements: delegates need to demonstrate that they have current experience of working in close protection and have an existing knowledge acquired through work.
To be considered relevant, all close protection training and experience should have taken place within the last 3 years.
Exemptions: Delegates who have undertaken the following close protection courses
- Special Air Service Regiment Body Guard Course
- Royal Military Police Close Protection Course
- Metropolitan Police Royalty Protection or Special Branch Close Protection Course
- Police National Close Protection Courses including Northern Ireland
and who continue to be employed in close protection are exempt from additional training but are required to take a knowledge test and practical skills assessment.
