Overview: This course is designed for persons who for anyone who has to remove or detail individuals as part of their work. This might include security officers, health care staff, bailiffs, event staff and prison staff.
Although offered as a stand-alone course we recommend that it is taken in conjunction with conflict management.
Objectives: The aim of the course is to teach delegates how to apply control and restraint within the legal guidelines. Based on both theoretical knowledge and practical exercises the course covers:
- Legislation relating to the use of physical force
- Physical techniques for applying control and restraint
- Risks associated with the use of physical intervention
- The medical implications of using control and restraint
Assessment Methods: The course is assessed on an on-going basis and delegates must demonstrate practical skills which are supported by a theoretical knowledge of the legal application of control and restraint.
Course Duration: 1 day
Entry Requirements: None, although a minimum of level 1 or equivalent in English language and numeracy is recommended.
Certification: Upon successful completion of the course delegates will receive a certificate in Control and Restraint User, Level 2 accredited by HABC.
